Anna Gonzalez
Associate Vice Chancellor/Director for Intercultural Relations
Anna comes to the university from UC-Irvine where she was Associate Dean of Students and Director of the first multicultural center in the University of California system. She also initiated and maintained Irvine's Summer Multicultural Leadership Institute (SMLI). During her term on the UCI expansion advisory board, she played an administrative role in overseeing the $60 million Phase IV expansion of the UCI Cross-Cultural Center and Student Center.
Anna is currently working on her PhD in Higher Education Administration. She received her M.A. in Higher Ed from Claremont Graduate University, CA (2004), and her undergraduate degree in International Business fom Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles (1993).
Her current responsibilities for Student Affairs include acting as principal staff liaison to students and staff on issues of inclusion and diversity, recruitment and retention of diverse staff and students, and assisting students in meeting their goals and objectives. She engages in strategic initiatives with regard to the coordination and implementation of multicultural programs.
Anna sailed twice on the Semester at Sea Program, most recently as the
Director of Student Life for the Fall 2007 voyage. Anna is currently
the national secretary / treasurer for the Association for Asian
American Studies as well as the incoming National Chair for the NASPA
Undergraduate Fellows Program Advisory Board.
