| A
newsletter from the Office of the Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs |
Greetings
from the students, staff, and faculty at Illinois. Seniors at Illinois
are savoring their remaining few weeks on campus, spending every free
moment enjoying the company of their college friends. We applaud the
Class of 2001 for their many contributions both in and outside the
classroom. They have formed new student organizations, created innovative
programs and events, given thousands of volunteer hours to our community
and been excellent ambassadors of the campus. I invite you to look
through this newsletter and learn about some of these students, student
organizations and programs. You will a (so have the opportunity to
have a brief glimpse of student life and an update on Student Affairs
and campus?wide programs.

Value of Leadership Skills |
Arthur
Andersen believes in the value of leadership skills. That is
the reason why they agreed to host Insight Illinois, the first
of the four core Illinois Leadership programs. The workshop
took place in January and was held at Andersen's St. Charles
Professional Education Center. Eighty undergraduate students
participated in the third of four workshops held this academic
year. |

Life of a Student Leader |
"What
does it take to be a student leader at Illinois? Recipient of
the Barbara Seaquist Williams Student Leadership Award senior
Kara Benson is a stunning example. Her passion, dedication and
genuine concern for others is evident in the roles and organizations
she chooses to associate with. Kara has been an active leader
in many campus groups including: Student Ambassadors, Illinois
Student Government, Atius-Sachem, T.E.A.M., Student Alumni Group
for Education, VIPs Best Buddies, and Illini Pride. While maintaining
good grades, this Monticello native is committed to her University
and community. Kara graduates from Illinois this spring but
she has paved the way for those who have watched her as a role
model to succeed. |
