Student Affairs Internships
The Campus Recreation Professional Intern is a paid position through the Division of Campus Recreation of Student Affairs. This internship position provides an undergraduate, during their senior year, the opportunity to undertake professional, creative, and challenging assignments under the direction of the Director of the Division of Campus Recreation. The vision for the Professional Internship is for the student to complete a “Signature Project.” This project will encompass work on issues including, but not limited to, strategic planning, renovations, leadership, evaluation of existing programs, service on multiple professional committees, coordination and creation of presentations, as well as providing recommendations. The position includes opportunities to develop professional relationships, network with students and professionals and provide contributions toward the renovation process. The intern provides insight on student concerns and issues, all while learning about the operations of the Division of Campus Recreation and the recreation field.

Fred H. Turner Fellows serve in pre-professional paid internships in the Office of the Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs. These internship positions provide undergraduates the opportunity to undertake professional, creative and challenging assignments under the guidance of the Vice Chancellor and staff during their senior year. In the past, Turner Fellows have worked on a wide range of issues, ranging from strategic planning, student fees, community-based learning and volunteer service to leadership development, campus safety and wellness. Fellows have also coordinated focus sessions to discuss pertinent student issues and created presentations for the Chancellor’s Cabinet, Student Affairs’ staff and students. In addition, they have researched effectiveness of different programs and have been appointed to many different committees. The interns provide insights on student concerns and issues and learn about the operations of a comprehensive Student Affairs organization that provides services to over 41,000 students at the University of Illinois.
This paid internship position provides the opportunity for students to work with the Champaign-Urbana community and its ever-changing needs. Because of the unique partnerships the Office of Volunteer Programs has with the community, interns will experience first hand the value of those partnerships. Interns will take advantage of mentoring relationships with the Director of the Office of Volunteer Programs as well as community leaders that work closely with the office. Interns will be expected to complete a signature project related to service that may require research, analysis, and the planning and preparation of a final presentation.
The Assembly Hall is looking for Journalism, Advertising, Marketing, or Communications interns for the 2007-08 academic year. Only serious, creative, and dedicated Juniors and Seniors should apply. Interns will work with the Marketing Director and other marketing staff.
Specific projects include:
- Managing the marketing campaign for Marching Illini
- Managing street team efforts
- Creating and running promotional campaigns for conerts
- Writing show press releases
